The Hindsight is a Privlege of Healing
It is important to forgive yourself for the version of you that you did not now. There are moments in life that arrive unnannounced, demand something from us, and stretch us beyond what human feels.
In a single instant, we go from simply being a person to being a vessel of urgency, adrenaline, survival, emotion. In those moments, we don’t always respond perfectly. We can be rash, impulsive, protective, and overwhelmed. Later, when the nervous system settles and hindsight sharpens, we judge ourselves and imagine how we could have done it better. Yes, there is almost always something we could have done differently. But you responded with the capacity you had at that time; with the knowledge and regulation you had at that time.
Every moment that humbles us is also a teacher. It shows us how we might choose differently next time. So, forgive yourself for not knowing better then, and honor yourself for knowing better now.
